It’s happening and I cannot wait to see everyone on March 23, 2024 in Lake Charles, La at Drew Park from 10am-5pm. The sponsors and partners are excited to do this for the city. I am so pumped up. It feels exactly like what a real tribe and community gets to feel like. No one gets the spotlight because the spotlight is on everyone. It’s great! I love watching people feel special.
When I got the permit in November, I did the preliminary work of creating the event on Facebook. I wasn’t ready, before the holidays, to start the work it would take to really get the festival off the ground.
When the Holiday’s were over, I was a like a bull out the gates. “Let’s go!”, I told myself.
I worked around the clock, calling sponsors, developing the website, creating marketing content, working with vendors to get them signed up, organizing the schedule, etc…
BABYYYYYY! The amount of mental organization required to pull off a big festival is wild. That’s alright though.
Seeing everyone out there makes it all worth it. Once all of the details are worked out, the next order of business is shirts, signage and volunteers.
That should be done by March 1. Once all of that is aligned, we all just wait for the BIG DAY.
I don’t mind big projects. In fact, I would like my life to be aligned with big projects so that I can spend the other time writing. The bigger the festival gets, the more I want to offer. Next year I want to get a band and rock out at the end. I had the idea this year, but the guy wanted $5000.00. He deserves it, but I couldn’t reasonably request that sort of sponsorship. I say one or two more years and it will be easy to pull a big sponsor in for something like that.
You have to be realistic with your manifestations. I like homegrown everything. Growing too fast creates burn out. You have to manage the growth. I don’t know why going viral is the most important thing to people these days. I have watched people become millionaires from word of mouth, good old fashion business. I like that. I love the idea of real interacts, heart and true lasting growth. I like the stories of standing outside of Market Basket, big and pregnant, promoting my daycare. People are proud of the fact that they were some of the first attendants of the first SWLA Yoga Fest. Those gorilla initiatives are what makes something stick. I know it’s not trendy, but it’s my vibe and this is how I am rolling. Period. Just wait… In a few years we are going to have a couple stages, classes, workshops and professionals from all over asking to join our initiative. I see it. We are just working backwards right now. Im excited that you are one of the first couple of hundred people who are building this thing. Don’t get it twisted. I can do all this work and we can have instructors on the stage, but if it wasn’t for you there would be no festival. Everyone you bring, adds the energy. This is about us.
The energy of all of it is being put into my book as I transition my work load. This novel that God inspired years ago is pouring out of me.
I am happier than ever when I am writing, whether it be to you or by myself. I love this channel. It’s not just an outlet. I feel like myself when I write. I couldn’t talk to you with as much clarity as I can write to you. Everything about me is about the page.. The Paige lives on the page…
“There she is…”, I tell myself as I open the computer and pull up the story titled “The Blessing.” I haven’t picked a book title yet, so that will do for now. I am not worried about titles. All of that comes in time. It’s like an album cover. If it’s a good album the cover becomes good art. The title will be a great title because the novel comes from my heart, straight from my heart. I feel something new birthing.
Todays is the New Moon and tomorrow is the Lunar New Year. Big things are happening, and I feel it deeply.
It feels like somehow I found myself in the middle of the ocean years ago. I thought I saw a cool wave to surf. As I paddled in, I realized that it was the biggest wave of my life. I can’t jump off now. All I can do is catch my balance and ride that thing until the end.
Here I am in the “City of Discovery”, Ocean Springs, MS, the wave of my life.
On this New Moon, I lit my candle of 13 wicks. One wick refused to light. Of course it did. After all we are celebrating the first of twelve new moons this year. It will stay lit all day today, burning with my intentions.
Here’s to the blessing that will cover our lives. May we recognize them daily.
