The Journey of the Heart

We can operate in resistance to God’s plan for our life or we can cooperate with it. Both can be brutally painful at times, but with God, we always have a companion when things get lonely. The beautiful part about it is that no matter if we’ve intentionally chosen Gods path for ourselves or not, we are on it anyway. Because even the stupid, ridiculous, bone headed mistakes we make, lead us back to God’s grace and glory.

I used to search for God out there in the world. I studied Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Spirituality and so many more belief systems. I manifested ANYTHING I wanted. I prayed and felt peace.  I listened to mantras in my car. I sang worship music. I practiced prayer on Passover. I became a stoic. I felt everything in art. The journey of outer exploration is eventful, exciting, magical, and hard. As I studied, it was as though I was finding the parts that wove all tradition together in some way.

I wept at all sorts of different altars. I cried out for God. I breathed God in. I danced. I gave. I preached my perspectives. I sang and I got quiet in meditation. I sent offerings in a cenote. I understood my rising and my moon. I traveled the path of ancient Indians and sat with earth medicine. As amazing as my studies have been and still are, None of it made sense to my body until I took the journey inward.

On my journey I was led to the scariest place of all, the door to my heart. I had knocked a few times before, but every time it opened, I ran. There was too much to witness, too much to see, too much to feel! No God! I’ll do anything but this! But I had no choice in the matter. Like a heartbreak that lasted what felt like a century, I walked the heart path, uncovering and patching the walls as I traveled.

I called upon Christ and the most peaceful energy arrived to guide me. “I’ve already done this! I got you!”, I heard in my Spirit.

As we began to chisel through the cavern, I knew this was a journey unlike any that I had taken before. Like a lighthouse, The Spirit of The Most High called to me. I kept digging. The Spirit within me became my strength. The war for my heart was real. Was it demons I fought with? Some would say, “yes!” Was it my trauma? Most likely. Regardless, I was in battle to uncover that I don’t need to go to war with myself anymore. It’s safe right here. It’s peaceful right now, in this moment.

This is the journey and each of us have our own. It takes you to the center, to the luscious Garden of E…ternity within, where your lessons arise.

In the heart, this is what I found:

  1. No perspective is the “right” perspective, but there’s a “best” perspective for every event.
  2. When you forgive yourself, you wipe the veil of cloudiness.
  3. It’s not a matter of who is right or wrong or who is good or bad. It’s a matter of which values and intentions are at play.
  4. For every belief there is an accompanying question that takes you higher
  5. When you cry out to God, your voice never goes unheard. In those moments, everything changes.
  6. The way of the heart and the truth of our journey brings life to the world.
  7. For every truth, there is a higher truth.
  8. Truth is heard in silence.
  9. Cause joy
  10. Cause inspiration

There are more lessons, some I don’t wish to share just yet.

With the Deepest Love,

Paige Elliott
